Most of us, women, find exercising in front of strangers, in a pair of spandex leggings or in a swimsuit, quite intimidating.
A social media campaign, launched by Sport England, lends us a helping hand by releasing a YouTube video that contains miniclips of women of all shapes and sizes working out at high intensity, running, taking Zumba classes or boxing.
The 90-seconds video accumulated almost 850,000 views since its release on Jan 12, 2015.
The most common issues that women worry about are time, cost, fear of judgement for being the wrong size, not fit enough, not skilled enough or too sweaty.
“The campaign is the first of its kind to feature women who sweat and jiggle as they exercise,” the company revealed in a press release. “It seeks to tell the real story of women who exercise and play sport by using images that are the complete opposite of the idealized and stylized images of women we’re used to watching.”
Sport England came up with this campaign after acknowledging that 75 % of women in UK wish to be more active but somehow fears are holding them back.
